Reality Vs fantasy

Most of us take immense pleasure in watching movies. Though we may not be movie buffs who go nuts about movies, couple of hours spent – or more or less depending on the length of the movie – in front of the silver screen seem to be fun and relaxing maybe informative as well. Two hours of absolute magic and joy, blend and perfection of emotions, personification of noble qualities would carry us into a different world. If we sit down to critically analyze every scene in minute detail we would realize the futility of the time spent there and how ridiculously reality is portrayed. The glamour, humor, tragedy, accidents, stunts, relations…everything we watch is imaginary and indigestible for a thinking mind. Despite knowing the fictitious side of this reality, we forget everything when we sit glued to the big screen.

What is it that gives life to the made-up characters, to cinema? How come an emotional scene moves us into tears or another one make us laugh out loud or scream in terror? Where is our discretion? Each character portrayed by ‘actors’ have no semblance to the role they play in real life. Most of what enthralls us is far from reality and would never take place in real life. Why do we heave a sigh or even our eyes well up, why do we take sides even though what we see has nothing to do with our lives? Is it possible that these stories, characters have something to tell us or share with our own life stories? The fantasy then intertwines with reality, our reality. When I identify myself with a character, the story becomes my story and I would find the movie worth watching while others assert it crap!

The Significant Other

None of us needs to be told of the importance of others in our lives. The often used, over used axiom ‘no man is an island’, though a cliché now, sheds light to this truth in nutshell. But the saying doesn’t convey the message that we mingle with everyone nor does it say everyone we get in touch with is playing a major role in our lives and we cant do without their presence. At the same time, no one can deny the fact that there is a ‘significant other’ in everyone’s life. Maybe a parent, spouse, or friend who has influenced, altered our life vastly, whose life has become the corner stone of our success and happiness. If not for that person, we may not be who we are. She or he maybe the mascot of our lives and our lives may have taken a flip over the turn for good after the timely involvement of this person.

Have you ever given a thought to this person’s presence in your life? Just by his/her being there s/he has not only been able to effectively fill in the vacuum that would have otherwise opened its jaw but also highlights the truth that if you fail to recognize this person in your life, you are a fleck on the seashore; lost. Of course, we cant deny that everyone we meet in life, however trivial role s/he maybe playing, has got a message for us. But all these become meaningless, less effective or untimely when we fail to recognize the Significant Other in our lives. There is no denying that we don’t meet up with this person one way or other, but do we accept him or her is the question. Have you already turned your face away or failed to recognize that face? Are you yet to meet up?

A Realization Which Needs To Be

Being a human we are given it all
Be it desires, be it aspirations, be it dreams
But being a human, we are also gifted
With love, from him…and given an option of love being for him
But, that’s what we are, selfish humans,
And we run behind all our desires, aspirations and dreams
Mixing all these selfish emotions with love and its strange assumptions
We fall in love with humans and the materialistic world
We fall out of the same love then and break our own heart
This goes on and by now, the one who has become the third person of our life,
Is just made to watch. We go to him we pray and we cry
But then we make the same mistakes again, we break our hearts and we cry
Forgetting that from the very beginning of our life
we have been gifted with the love we need, and the love we deserve.
It’s the love he has for us, it’s the love we can give him
It’s the promise he can make to us forever,
The that tear he promises to wipe
Its that smile he promises to give us forever
It’s the magic he can add to our life
It’s the beauty he adds to the world
Its that courage he gives you
It’s the feeling one seldom has for him
Its that emotion which is lost deep down inside the heat.
It’s the truth of life which one is searching.
It’s a realization.

Experience says that life gives us whatever we ask for;sooner or later we achieve it. Here we are talking about success.Success is defined as ‘the achievement of a desired aim’ by the dictionary. This achievement is generally by the means of terms like hard work,determination,perseverance, commitment etc.But is this all that works in practical situations?
Let’s get real and talk about what happens actually. It’s the age of competition.The dictionary defines competition as ‘an act of beating other participants’ and competition leads to success. In order to succeed, it is very important for an individual to work hard and reach the top.But this statement is incomplete without adding that his work or the final product must be ‘better than everyone else around’. Only the winner is considered and not the one who just works hard. So then success means something which is achieved by the winner in a competition where a lot of other members are involved.
Generally what happens in such competitions is that instead of trying hard to deliver their best performance the participants try harder to make sure the other members don’t deliver and loose the game. It always presents a simple example of pulling others down on order to create an illusion of one’s reaching the top.
I was taught that envy is the only reason why we have been punished by god. Envy is something which is tough to get rid of but once we do that we achieve the highest order of humanity. But how without envy is a person supposed to succeed when we say that competition is necessary for success? Whenever we need to make sure that we win we also have to keep and eye on our competitors and keep a check on what they do. When ever we work hard for winning and someone else takes home the crown we cannot be very happy about it. So then we are being envious.
I have discussed this with a lot of people and in majority’s opinion it is ok to have a healthy competition and after the wining part is over things tend to become normal because at the end of the day everyone is a part of a team and is working for the success of the team.
But I personally feel that when only hard work is all we have put in the race for success the satisfaction level is highest and when we have resorted to some other means the level of pride exceeds the level of negligible satisfaction. And at the end of the day I think the moment an individual starts being satisfied with what he has and is only desiring to get more for giving some other life a better purpose should he consider going to any extent for achieving success just to help his purpose. At that moment he will consider only hard work as means of success.

My eyes are closed and there's darkness all around
I struggle for light but all I have around is darkness

Life is Game

Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends and spirit … and you’re keeping all of these in the air.

You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or evenshattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for Balance in your life.

How?

Don’t undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Don’t set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.

Don’t take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.

Don’t let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life.

As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let us down, probably will. You'll have your heart broken and you'll break others' hearts. You'll fight with your best friend or maybe even fall in love with them, and you'll cry because time is flying by. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, forgive freely, and love like you've never been hurt. Life comes with no guarantees, no time outs, no second chances. you just have to live life to the fullest, tell someone what they mean to you and tell someone off, speak out, dance in the pouring rain, hold someone's hand, comfort a friend, fall asleep watching the sun come up, stay up late, be a flirt, and smile until your face hurts. No Self Flagellation..But No Self Pity Either.

Right now,i was about to start cursing my game.wanted to play the same self flagellation game...i was just gonna be harsh to myself for delaying the GRE so much... and then i thought of going and talking to .i said to myself that i needed someone to tell me that its ok.. and that i should take the GRE just when i feel right about it.
But wait..
Then i thought
I dont need any one to tell me if things are ok or not. i mean i was strong enough to handly my own situations and since when did i start relying on support .. that too emotional support. just then i realized that off that i had become way too vulnerable. and yes, the reason is NOTHING else, but the age, and the hormones and yes, i am sure they are the only reason why i am becoming so increasingly emotional and vulnerable. but no, these emotions are a part of my phyicial metarial being and i wont let them take over my soul being, my self being... so
no sympathising with myself
I am glad i have decided not to talk to any one before i get done with my GRE which is now very soon.
booking my date tomorrow.

I am starting to get exited now.
this is one load on my head. a heavy weight load which is gonna be off soon and i want to cherish it, enjoy is, and most importantly take extremely good care of it, so that is makes me proud one day

A Gaze At My Life

i have so much to write
so much on my mind
so many lessons i have been learning from life everyday
and the good thing is, all of them are positive lessons...

Its beautiful to see how some people just simply enjoy their lives... and that i learned is only becoz they have no conditions for happiness. no barter systems and contract signings with life...just like that one parent who likes all his kids alike, no conditions.

Its a simple funda. basics. physically, you need to be healthy and you should be working hard enough to put your self to sleep. mentally, you should be growing everyday and learning something new every hour. emotionally, you should be surrounded by people who love you and on whom you can shower all your love and then you feel full.. full of life. you are sated. and then there's no place for high ambitions...

so yes, yet again we are talking about an ideal situation which also makes it unrealistic and this for sure is not a utopian world we have been living in.

There's not really an attempt to make life as perfect as it sounds in words or text. but its great once in a while if you can just sit and smile and the beauty life contains within its eternal soul.

The extreme combination of totally opposite natured mind and heart will never let us enjoy the beauty of bliss of life for long enough, but the good thing is that today, i see myself at a place where i am able to think about the world in a particular way and i have the ability to learn my lessons from every single day, person and situation..and use it to avoid any complications in the future so that i can save my time, energy and my soul for something a little more productive.
